we are watching what is happening in the nest of the peregrine falcons and would like herewith to ask you to do something with highest urgency to save the three chicks.
We understand that mainly it can be the best thing to let nature do is work, but in this case we believe that human beings modified so much the environment and put these wonderful birds at risck to disappear from large part of the world. Now many efforts are made to recover their number and each chick is a precious life to save (even in consideration of the low rate of fledlings that survives the first dangerous year of life)
The best way from our point of view should be to take the chicks from this nest, feed them just the necessary to help them recovering and look for another falcon nest with chicks of same age, they would survive as foster chicks. Or you could support the male in the feeding of the chicks as last year a biologist did with eagle chicks in finland.
Please give the chicks a good chance to survive. All over the world yr nestcam is well known. We follow it from Italy but we know a lot of people is watching from the USA and Canada as well. Everybody is looking at this poor nest now and at yr behaviour in this drama.
Real animal lover can't accept to see this without doing something. In S.Francisco biologists made a dangerous rescue of eggs from bay bridge... you have the opportunity to do more and spend yr efforts to save the chicks and this would for sure be even more appreciated all over the world

capiamo che nella maggior parte dei casi la cosa migliore da fare e' lasciar fare alla natura il suo lavoro, ma in questo caso crediamo che l'uomo abbia modificato cosi' tanto l'ambiente e messo questi spendidi uccelli a rischio di scomparire da grandi parti del mondo. Ora vengono fatti molti sforzi per aumentare il loro numero ed ogni pullo e' e' una vita preziosa da salvare (anche in considerazione della percentuale bassa di sopravvivenza dei giovani falchi al primo pericoloso anno di vita).
Secondo il nostro punto di vista ora la cosa migliore sarebbe prendere i piccoli dal nido, alimentarli giusto il necessario per rimetterli un po' in forze e cercare un altro nido con pulli della medesima eta', sopravviverebbero come figli adottivi. Oppure potreste supportare il padre agevolandolo nella ricerca di cibo come ha fatto lo scorso anno un biologo con degli aquilotti in finlandia.
Per favore date ai pulli una buona chance di sopravvivere. La vs webcam del nido e conosciuta in tutto il mondo. Noi la seguiamo dall'italia ma sappiamo che anche molta gente vi segue dagli USA e dal Canada. Tutti stanno guardando a questo povero nido ora ed al vostro comportamento in questo dramma.
I veri amanti degli animali non possono accettare di vedere questo senza fare niente. A san Francisco i biologi hanno fatto un pericoloso recupero di upva a sul Bay Bridge ... voi avete l'opportunita' di fare di piu' facendo degli sforzi per salvare i piccoli e questo sarebbe di certo anche di piu' apprezzato in tutto il mondo.

HELP THE PEREGRINE CHICKS!
We must help the chicks!
What is happening in the Ma & Pa nest now is something which has nothing to with natural selection: the chicks hatched heatlhy and the parents were caring very well about them.
Then, Ma disappeared and Pa was raising the brood alone: Natural Selection has formed the instinct of this male in order to cope with a sudden disappearance of its mate, and he was doing quite well its job.
Then, another unexpected event: the female subtracting the food (but respecting the chicks), and Pa still trying to feed them. But this seems not to be enough and the chicks are just at the limit of their survival..
I am asking you (the responsible(s) of this nest) to undertake some actions to revert this situation: for example just drop in the nest a couple of dead pigeons/day (one for the female and another tied on its legs so that the female cannot remove it, for the male to feed the chicks) or giving food to the chicks in the nest (an operation will will take some 20 min withouth disturbing much the male but providing to the chick enough energy for further begging the male). This should be done just for one more week, because it is now the critical period: then, the chicks will be old enough to eat the preys alone and perhaps to compete with the female for the food.
To help the three chicks now, in my view, does not mean at all to interfere with Natural Selection!!
By the way an artificial nest is already a human interference with our environment and watching on-line the show of the slow death of the chicks makes me and many other visitors quite frustrated and unhappy.
Also, by being part of this show we are also part of this “natural selection” and in case of peregrines, we as humans we havy many responsibilities:
-first: we make them almost disappearing with DDT and other noxious productus;
-second: we struggled for helping the population all around the world to recover, sometimes by introducing (thousands of ) captive-raised birds and often (in the States) by introducing birds from other geographic areas;
-third: we provide them, in many cases good nesting opportunities which they suddenly accepted thus confirming that habitat, including urbanised areas, is suitable for them to breed and reproduce and that perhaps only nesting sites were a limiting factor;
-fourth: we placed webcams and gave the opportunity to thousands of people to watch the secret life of these birds on their nest from their home pc.
This latter in my view is the best help we gave to these birds because people can appreciate the daily effort of these birds to protect and raise with care their chicks. And people loves them and suffer for accidents due to Natural Selection (unhatched eggs, chicks dying because of intra-nest competition or disease), but do not like to suffer for the omission of some simple actions which can revert a situation created by a series of unexpected events...

Ho dato l'allarme al dott. Randolph Kricke della Biologische Station della Ruhr dove si trova il nido di Oberhausen. Spero che anche i tedeschi si attivino. Vi posto un link di Oberhausen nel suo forum. I pulletti "tedeschi" sono stati inanellati ieri (due maschi, una femmina). 
Nella vita devi trovare il modo giusto di rubare e devi anche capire cosa ti conviene rubare.
