June 11, 2007: Early this morning Esperanza was perched on the southwest corner ledge of City Hall at the level of the 8th floor. Her sister, Spirit was perched on the southeast ledge of the Dr. Martin Luther King Library on San Fernando Street. Approximately 11 AM, Esperanza flew off the ledge, circled to the south of City Hall, and attempted to land on the west short ledge next to the nest box. Unfortunately, she missed, and circled again, this time trying to land on the south high parapet wall at the level of the nest box. Again, she mis-negotiated the landing, and slipped down one story, where managed to grip the cement with her talons and was perched almost woodpecker-style on the side of of the building. With a little encouragement from Clara, Esperanza let go, tumbled about a story, and then righted herself and flew south. By 2PM though she returned to City Hall and landed on the 18th floor louvers adjacent to the nest box. It is common for newly flighted falcons to have a little difficulty sticking their landings, but these young falcons are flying and landing very well around the City, and the coming days should provide people on the ground with some excellent viewing opportunities.
June 10, 2007: Early in the morning Spirit was found perched on the southwest corner of City Hall at about the level of the 9th floor. Late in the morning she made a strong flight out to the southeast toward the San Jose State Univeristy campus. Observers on the 4th street garage noted she had actually flown into the vicinity of the Clark Building. Observers on the ground found her perched about 12 inches off the ground on some discarded concrete rubble behind the building. SCPBRG staff attempted to capture Spirit to return her to the roof of City Hall, but she actually made a strong flight out on her own. She was later found perched back at City Hall. In the meantime, on Sunday afternoon, Esperanza made her first flight off the nest ledge and landed on the east side of the building in the fifth floor stairwell. She eventually made her way back to the 18th floor.
June 9, 2007: This evening as the sun was beginning to set, Spirit decided it was time to leave the nest ledge. Clara had brought in prey and landed on the south side 18th floor louver adjacent to the nest ledge. Apparently Spirit was hungry, and intended to share in the meal that Clara was busily consuming. Spirit took off of the western edge of the nest ledge, and made the short flight to where Clara was perched. After Spirit finished her sharing the meal with Clara, she laid down on the louver and settled in for the night.
11 giugno 2007: Presto questa mattina Esperanza perched sulla sporgenza del angolo di sud-ovest della città corridoio al livello dell'ottavo pavimento. La sua sorella, Spirit perched sulla sporgenza sudorientale del Dott. biblioteca di Martin Luther King sulla via di San Fernando. Circa 11, Esperanza ha volato fuori della sporgenza, circondata al sud della città corridoio e tentata per atterrare sulla sporgenza corta ad ovest vicino al nido. Purtroppo, ha mancato ed ha circondato ancora, questo volta che prova ad atterrare sull'alta parete del sud del parapet al livello del nido. Di nuovo, mis-ha negoziato l'atterraggio ed ha slittato giù una storia, dove riuscito ad afferrare il cemento con i suoi talons ed era woodpecker-stile quasi perched dal lato della costruzione. Con un poco incoraggiamento da Clara, Esperanza ha lasciato va, caduto circa una storia ed allora radrizzato ed ha volato verso il sud. Da 2PM benchè rinvii alla città corridoio ed atterri sulle diciottesime feritoie del pavimento adiacente al nido. È comune per recentemente flighted i falchi per avere una difficoltà piccola attaccare i loro atterraggi, ma questi falchi giovani sono molto bene volo ed atterraggio intorno alla città ed i giorni dovrebbero fornire alla gente sulla terra alcune occasioni eccellenti di osservazione.
10 giugno 2007: Di mattina Spirit iniziale è stato trovato perched sul angolo di sud-ovest della città corridoio circa al livello del nono pavimento. In ritardo di mattina ha fatto un volo forte fuori al sud-est verso il San Jose dichiarare la città universitaria di Univeristy. Gli osservatori sul quarto garage della via la hanno notata realmente avevano volato nella vicinanza dell'edificio del Clark. Gli osservatori sulla terra la hanno trovata perched circa 12 pollici fuori della terra su un certo rubble concreto scartato dietro la costruzione. Il personale di SCPBRG ha tentato di bloccare Spirit per restituirla al tetto della città corridoio, ma realmente ha fatto un volo forte fuori sui suoi propri. Più successivamente è stata trovata perched indietro alla città corridoio. Nel frattempo, sul pomeriggio di domenica, Esperanza gli ha reso il primo volo fuori della sporgenza del nido ed ha atterrato dal lato orientale della costruzione nel quinto stairwell del pavimento. Finalmente ha fatto il suo senso di nuovo al diciottesimo pavimento.
9 giugno 2007: Questa sera come il sole stava cominciando a regolarsi, Spirit ha deciso che era tempo di lasciare la sporgenza del nido. Clara aveva portato in preda ed aveva atterrato sulla diciottesima feritoia del pavimento del lato del sud adiacente alla sporgenza del nido. Spirit era apparentemente affamata e progettato ripartirsi nel pasto che Clara stava consumando attivamente. Spirit ha tolto del bordo occidentale della sporgenza del nido ed ha fatto il volo corto a dove Clara perched. Dopo che Spirit la rifinisca che ripartisce il pasto con Clara, ha indicato sulla feritoia e si è depositata dentro per la notte.
