It looks like Zeus and Hera will have four chicks to raise this year.
I don't think that fifth egg is going to hatch

Banding Day - Tuesday, June 1 at 10:00 a.m.
In order for the Nebraska Parks and Recreation staff to band the chicks, the falcon cams will need to be turned off. They will be turned back on after the banding and the chicks are returned. Don't worry, we will take lots of pictures to post later.

It's Banding Day!
The 28th floor of the Woodmen Tower was a-squawking this morning - it's banding day!
Banding day is always one of the best days of the year here at Woodmen of the World. To see these chicks hatch and grow so quickly is an emotional experience for a lot of us.
But enough about us, what about these falcons?!
We're proud to announce that we have two healthy boys and two healthy girls this year! And they are a feisty bunch. Zeus and Hera were not happy to have their babies gone from the nest - they dove around the window as the representatives from Raptor Recovery Nebraska and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission gently removed them and put them back after banding.

Introducing Dakota, Ponca, Kiowa and Oto
The falcons have names. Please welcome Ponca, Oto, Kiowa and Dakota. The young peregrine falcons were named in honor of four of the many Native American tribes located in the plains area. These are the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th falcons born to Zeus and Hera since 2006.
I falchi hanno nomi. Diamo il benvenuto Ponca, Oto, Kiowa e Dakota. I giovani falchi pellegrini sono stati nominati in onore di quattro delle molte tribù dei nativi americani situati nella zona pianura. Questi sono i 16, 17, 18 e 19 falchi nati da Zeus ed Era dal 2006.

Dakota in Recovery
Dakota was picked up in late June by Raptor Recovery Nebraska on a downtown Omaha street corner. She had a broken talon and was emaciated. It was reported that the talon would fall off on it's own and a new one would grow back, but Dakota was taken to the recovery center to be "fattened up" before being re-released into the wild.
Dakota è stato preso a fine giugno da Raptor Recovery Nebraska su un angolo di strada del centro Omaha. Aveva un artiglio spezzato ed era emaciato. È stato riferito che il tallone dovrebbe cadere e uno nuovo ricrescere, ma Dakota è al centro di recupero per essere "ingrassato" prima di essere nuovamente rilasciato in libertà.

Good News
Dakota, 2010 offspring of Zeus and Hera, has made a full recovery and has been released back into the wild. She was found at 16th & Dodge on June 27, very thin. The Nebraska Humane Society picked her up and took her to the shelter. Denise Lewis of Raptor Recovery Nebraska picked her up from there and she stayed with Denise until July 3. Dakota then went out to the Raptor Recovery Nebraska center where she spent the rest of the time recovering. It feels good when we can report a happy ending.
Dakota, 2010 figlio di Zeus e Hera, ha fatto un recupero completo ed è stato rilasciato nuovamente in libertà.....Siamo contenti quando si può segnalare un lieto fine.
