Recent snowfall in Jozi has not scared PPO away from 'her' balcony. This morning we woke up to find yet another mess of soil all over the balcony floor. Another cold front sweeping through the country today but warmer weather is expected early next week.

Recenti nevicate in Jozi non hanno tenuto PPO lontano dal 'suo' balcone. Questa mattina ci siamo svegliati e abbiamo trovato ancora un altro spiaccichio su tutto il pavimento del balcone. Un altro fronte freddo attraverserà il paese oggi ma il caldo è previsto all'inizio della prossima settimana.

Pappa is coming to the nest earlier and earlier now. It isn't even dusk yet and we know he's around from the cacophony of noise from the other garden birds. They don't like the owls nesting so close to their own nests.

Pappa è venuto al nido presto e ora. Non è ancora crepuscolo e sappiamo che lui è in giro dalla cacofonia di rumori di altri uccelli del giardino. Non gradiscono che i gufi abbiano il nido così vicino ai loro nidi.

ma qui avremo ancora la webcam dei gufi?

Lots of territorial hooting and mating calls last night. Jumping in and out of the pot plant container. Very funny to watch but sorry - cant take any photos of it. I don't want to scare them off

Un sacco di territorial hooting e suoni di accoppiamento ieri sera. Saltando dentro e fuori il vaso. Molto divertente da guardare ma ci dispiace - non possiamo prendere foto, non vogliamo spaventarli.

Webcam went up today for the upcoming breeding season. Lots of work to do in it, but I'm sure Africam will do a great job setting up. New camera angles this year so watch this space!
It's not live yet - will let you know once it goes live.

Lots more activity in both pot plants on the balcony. Don't know which one PPO will choose this year. It is warming up now and the jasmine bush is in full bloom.
I think that's what 'spurs' PPO and Pappa on to start their breeding season.
Must admit that PPO is looking 'heavier' now...don't tell her I said that though. She's doing very little flying at night so it (usually) points to eggs very soon...fingers crossed, stars in alignment etc

Un sacco di attività in più di due piante in vaso sul balcone. Non so quale PPO sceglierà quest'anno. Il cespuglio di gelsomino è in piena fioritura. Penso che è quello che 'spurs' PPO e Pappa per iniziare la loro stagione riproduttiva.
Bisogna ammettere che PPO sta cercando 'peso' ora... non dirle che detto però. Lei sta volando molto poco di notte così (di solito) punta a uova molto presto... incrociamo le dita, stelle in allineamento ecc

Una piccola correzione : "Must admit that PPO is looking 'heavier' now." vuole dire "Bisogna ammettere che PPO appare più pesante ora"

to spur on = istigare, incitare, stimolare e anche spingere
