Ciao Carlo :D , long time ago the Egyptian Goose was imported from Africa and bred here in Holland so hunters could shoot them for fun...
Later some people who liked the colours of this goose, held them in their ponds, and later on the government held them in the ponds in the parks.
Some of these birds 'escaped' and started to brood in the 'wild'... mostly in or close to cities.
The same happened in England, they imported the goose like we did and they are now seen frquently all over the country.
:D No Carlo, I don't live near the webcam. I live in Amsterdam (west side of Holland) and this webcam is in Zwolle ( more east side of Holland)... 8) But we have Egyptian Goose here in Amsterdam too... in a park...and they nest in a tree!

Carlo, your English is perfect :!: (
I only know a couple of words in Italian...) Carlo, may I ask you to translate in Italian what I tell here about how the goose came to Holland? Much better than Google translation! Thank you!

:D
Thanks again for your answers Nora, I try to translate.

I think it's the last one that hatched, possible in the night 15/16 April... he is so small... but he jumped and survived!

Don't be sad Niseema, next year there will be another nest of Oca Egiziana...
And those parents are fierce and fearless... they will defend their babies very well! Here in Amsterdam I saw parents attack a big dog because it came near the babies (20 meters between the geese and the dog!) ...and the dog ran away!
so here's a Big Hug for you from me...

Bellissima foto!

In this italian site of birdwatching there is a sighting of Egyptian Goose in Garda lake, north italy.
Beautiful picture!
I've googled about Egyptian Goose and i've found that also in italy there are some specimens escaped and others kept in zoo like in Rome or in captivity.
Some photos to comfort us after the chicks are gone:
