Falchi pellegrini in Olanda (Zwolle, Eemsmond e altri nidi)

Gabbiano, nothing wrong with the egg. Estimated hatch date is next Monday (April 19) and I think the other eggs need a bit more brooding so all will hatch the same day (more or less).

You've probably noticed these 3 chicks are very often alone in the nest.
The parents, Bea & Abe, are very busy defending their territory. Not fighting again, but showing intruding peregrines this territory is taken and bringing the intruders to the borders.
Also a lot of Peregrines, migrating north to their breeding grounds in Scandinavia, are passing over the Netherlands at the moment.
Last Wednesday a friend of mine visited the nestsite and she saw 3 peregrines flying and two of them chasing eachother. At a specific moment she even saw 4 peregrines in the sky.
So Bea & Abe are very busy guarding their territory, doing some "air-patrol" almost all day.

But the chicks get several meals a day, and mostly they're alone for less than an hour.
The temps are about 12C here and in the chimney (where the nest box is built) it's very warm!

Those chicks have a very luxurrious apartment with central heating and underfloor heating!

l'uovo non è rotto, la data della schiusa dovrebbe essere circa il 19 aprile e penso che le altre uova hanno bisogno di essere covate un po' più a lungo, così tutte si schiuderanno lo spesso giorno, più o meno.

Nora dice che i pullini di questo nido sono lasciati spesso soli perchè i genitori stanno difendendo il loro territorio, non lottando (per fortuna) ma facendo vedere che il territorio è già preso e allontanando così gli intrusi.

Per di più ci sono tanti falchi Pellegrini che dirigendosi verso la Scandinavia verso i loro territori stanno sorvolando l'Olanda in questi giorni.

Mercoledì scorso un amico di Nora dalle parti di questo nido ha visto 3 falchi Pellegrini che volavano e due di questi stavano dandosi la caccia. Ad un certo punto ha visto perfino 4 falchi Pellegrini nel cielo.

Per questo Bea & Abe sono molto occupati tutto il giorno come guardiani a sorvegliare il loro territorio.

Ma i pullini fanno diversi pasti al giorno e per la maggior parte del tempo sono lasciati soli per non più di un'ora.

La temperatura è di circa 12° qui e la ciminiera (dove si trova il nido) è molto calda!!

:D Questi pullini hanno un appartamento di gran lusso con riscaldamento centralizzato e pavimento riscaldato :D

quello che ha scritto Nora ci tranquillizza sull'assenza dei genitori.....in natura per fortuna c'è quasi sempre una logica, un motivo, una spiegazione quando si nota qualcosa di diverso o che non torna. :D :D

I 3 piccoli sono molto soli nel nido perchè i genitori, Bea & Abe, sono molto occupati a difendere il loro territorio. Non a combattere ma in questo territorio c'è una intrusione di falchi pellegrini, un sacco di falchi pellegrini provenienti dalla Scandinavia che stanno passando sopra i Paesi Bassi al momento.
Venerdì scorso un mio amico ha visitato il sito del nido e ha visto 3 falchi pellegrini in volo e due inseguirsi a vicenda. In un determinato momento ha visto 4 falchi nel cielo.
Quindi, Bea e Abe sono molto impegnati a vigilare sul loro territorio.
Ma i pulcini ottengono diversi pasti al giorno, e sono per lo più da soli per meno di un'ora.
La temperatura è di circa 12°C e nella ciminiera (dove è posizionato il nido) fa molto caldo!
Questi pulcini hanno un appartamento molto lussuoso con riscaldamento centralizzato e riscaldamento a pavimento!

I just got a message there was an intruding female again and when she came too close to the nest Bea escorted her to the border of the territory. No fight, so everyone is oké.

Ho appena ricevuto un messaggio che c'era di nuovo una femmina intrusa e quando è venuta troppo vicino al nido Bea l' ha scortata fino al confine del territorio. Nessuna lotta, in modo che tutti è ok.
